ACTIVITY CHECK ✓
Activity check happens once a month. To pass, you must fulfill one of these requirements during the month for each character that you play:
- One open post. This can be any post where your character is the focal point, and the entire game can interact with them. You must also play in and/or respond to the comments in this post some amount for it to count towards AC. "Joint posts" (where you and another player combine text in one post) can count, as long as it's clear that both people involved have put forth effort into the opener, and have both interacted with responders as per a normal open post.
EXAMPLES: Network broadcasts that the whole Fleet can see, action posts where your character is doing something that most other characters could notice and/or interact with. - One mingle post + two threads in that mingle. A "mingle" is any post where no particular character is the focal point, but players are welcome to add their own content in the comments. Since these posts are usually very brief, you must also thread with at least two characters in the mingle for some amount, for it to count towards AC.
EXAMPLES: Game-wide mingles for whatever setting the Drift Fleet is visiting that month, mingles for a ship's crew and any visitors, mingles set on the default stations. - Two threads, each containing at least five comments from your character. These can come from any posts in the main comm. You are welcome to use threads that had been started in previous months, so long as the comments counting towards AC were all made within the current month. "IC Inbox" threads may be used for one thread per month. At this time, we do not allow "Test Drive" or "Musebox" threads to count towards AC.
- Please note that any post where it would be impossible for more than five characters to respond will not count towards AC on its own, but the threads within that post can be counted toward meeting the "two threads" requirement instead.
EXAMPLES: Private posts or logs between two characters, an arranged meeting between certain CR, a small event where only a few passengers have been invited.
Characters who do not meet the activity check at the end of the month will be swept from the game. We can make exceptions for long hiatuses and other life-impacting situations, so please don't hesitate to message the mod journal if you're worried about being able to make AC!
FILLING OUT AC ✂
CLICK THIS TO OPEN THE ACTIVITY CHECK DOCUMENT
Once the document is open, make sure you are on the correct month's tab. Next to your characters name, pick their status, and then paste links to the posts or threads you are using to meet AC. There is a section at the bottom of the list where you can comment if your character's name is mysteriously missing from the chart.
If you need further info/help on using spreadsheets, there is a short guide at the bottom of the Game Details post for you!
You can fill this out at any point, but:
- A reminder to fill out AC will go up around the 22nd of every month in the OOC comm.
- After one week, we will check to see that everyone met activity.
- Another post will be made showing the characters in danger of being swept.
- After three more days, if no further response is received from their players, those characters will be swept from the game.
If a character has been swept, their player will need to re-app them if they wish to continue playing them in the Drift Fleet.
Other players are welcome to submit AC for their friends or notify mods about someone else's hiatus. We don't want anyone to be stressed out about meeting activity, so please feel free to message the mod journal (

HIATUS NOTICES ✗
Going on vacation? Need a break from the game? Swamped with finals? Not to worry. Use the form below and comment to this post to tell us how long you'll be gone. This helps us monitor AC, and also gives your fellow players a convenient way to see which members of their crew will be mysteriously quiet for a while. Depending on how long you will be gone, you may also want to mark yourself as "Hiatused" on the AC spreadsheet for that month.
What if I'm going to be gone a long time?
If you'll be on hiatus long enough that you'll have a hard time meeting our AC requirement for the month, here are some guidelines to keep in mind. We may make exceptions depending on a player's situation, so please don't hesitate to contact us with questions, concerns, or clarification if you're worried about your time away!
- Players can mark themselves as hiatused for the month whenever they'd like. We allow players to hiatus for 1 month (or 1 AC check) in a 3-month period without penalty. For example: If Stick takes a hiatus for all of January, the next time Stick would be able to take a penalty-free hiatus is in April. She can take smaller hiatuses in February and March, as long as she still makes AC for those months.
- If for whatever reason a player needs to hiatus for 2 months (or 2 AC checks) within a 3-month period, they should contact the mods. Additionally, they may be asked for double AC the month they return, and then one more month of regular AC before they may take another month-long hiatus. Since two months is a long time in a crew-based game, let us know if you'd like your character to "disappear" for the length of your hiatus so that other players won't have to assume through two months of interaction. For example: if Yuff takes January and February off for work, she'd need to make double AC in March, regular AC in April, and then would be allowed to mark herself off as hiatused in May without penalty. She can also choose to have her characters "disappear" while she is gone.
- Players who require 3 months (or 3 AC checks worth) of hiatuses in a row must obtain prior approval from the mods. Because of the tight-knit crew dynamic the game is based on, your character will likely "disappear" from the fleet until you return, to keep other players from having to assume their way through three months of interaction. You will also be asked for extra AC when you return.
- While we're fine with players taking hiatus as frequently as they need to within these rules, players who are often away from the game may be asked to take their characters out of any captain or first mate positions they hold. Since there is other criteria that goes into this decision, this will be taken on a case-by-case basis!
This month turned out busier than I thought it'd be, can I call a retroactive hiatus?
Yes! Retroactive hiatuses for a month are allowed until the AC check is complete, as long as it follows all of the above guidelines.
I took a hiatus, but it turns out I can still make AC. Can I cancel my hiatus?
Yes! Just post your activity before the AC check is complete, and the hiatus will be canceled! (And maybe let the mods know about it so they don't miss it...)
Got it? Fill out the form below to let us know you're going to be gone for a bit!
